Designed and manufactured in Australia, our new Dux third generation Ecosmart heat pumps are built to last & designed to perform. They combine both high efficiency and performance to lower household energy bills and greenhouse gas emissions. They feature low GWP R290 refrigerant which is naturally better for the environment, and connected technology which puts the power to control the heat pump in the palm of your hand.

We’ve specified high performance components from some of the biggest names in refrigeration and controller technology to provide the utmost quality and ensure product longevity.

The Dux Ecosmart 285L model features the same tank diameter as both Dux Proflo 250L & 315L electric water heaters, meaning it can fit on the same footprint as the models it’s designed to replace. The 285L model is perfect for larger families with an electric water heater on a continuous tariff or time of use tariff looking to reduce their water heater running costs. It’s also a great choice in new homes to comply with building regulations, including NCC 2022.

The Dux Ecosmart 285L model qualifies for an additional $400 rebate for Australian made heat pumps in the Solar Victoria Solar Homes Program.

Energy Efficient

Dux Ecosmart 285L heat pumps feature a COP of 4.63^, meaning they’re up to 4 times more energy efficient than a standard electric water heater. This makes them a great choice for households looking to reduce their energy use particularly when connected to continuous or time of use tariffs.

How It Works

Heat pumps absorb free heat energy from the ambient air and use ‘reverse cycle’ technology to heat your water. Just like a fridge, except in reverse. For 1kw of power consumed, they produce 4kw of heating. Using this free energy is why heat pumps are so energy efficient.

The Dux Ecosmart 285L heat pump has a heating output of 2.5kW when heating water via the heat pump alone. This equates to 54L/hr @ 20ºC ambient temperature. This provides a full tank of hot water in just over 5hrs under these conditions.

For single shot boost applications, when both the heat pump & element work simultaenously, you can heat at up to 93L/hr@ 20ºC ambient temperature, resulting in a full tank of hot water in almost half the time.

Functionality in your hand

When connected to the internet, you can remotely monitor the status of the heat pump & change the operating modes via the Smart Life app. The app allows you to:

Set the heat pump to an operating mode to suit your individual hot water requirements (ECO, Boost, Holiday)
Single shot boost for the unit to maximise recovery, reducing heating time
Schedule the water heater to run at particular times of the day to take advantage of low cost time of use tariffs & excess PV generation (if installed)
Put the heat pump into Holiday mode when the water heater is not expected to be used for a long duration
View the temperature of the stored water
Check the status of the heat pump, or for notifications & errors
In the event of a power outage, both the heat pump & app settings are saved
